What Should Artificial Intelligence Companies Take Into Consideration?
In summary, as AI becomes an increasingly integral part of society, the perils associated with it have seemed to increase exponentially as well. State-of-the-art technology typically has a learning curve with regard to potential dangers, and AI is apparently no exception. In fact, judging by the three articles discussed in the previous blog entries, AI appears to contain some of the most menacing capabilities of any technological advancement released to the public to date. Of course, the posts in this blog only examined a few of the many pitfalls that AI users have encountered during AI’s latest expansion, but blogs of this nature are vital to both users and service providers due to the raw honesty with which they are submitted.
Although, an article published on tableau.com entitled, “What is the history of Artificial Intelligence (AI)?”; explains that even though AI is not exactly a new technological breakthrough, because it was introduced in the early 1950s as an AI-generated checkers game; its recent innovative applications and widespread usage are seemingly fraught with unpredictable risks. Thus, not only can users protect themselves by reading personal blogs about safety issues associated with “Big Tech” and/or AI-sponsored companies, but the tech companies themselves benefit from reading blogs related to their products and/or services because it allows them to integrate safeguards for their users/consumers. Additionally, the opinion-based format of blogs coupled with the gut responses and reactions to blog topics, particularly those related to tech products and services, can also guide tech companies toward the creation of better products and/or service upgrades, which in turn manifests into improved sales.
Therefore, while profit is the bottom line for all businesses, including those in AI-sponsored companies, lawsuits are often very costly and can have detrimental effects on profit margins. Consequently, genuine feedback from users/consumers via personal or public blogs provide “Big Tech”/AI-sponsored companies with an extra layer of protection against unwanted lawsuits. Likewise, since safety is the primary goal of AI users/consumers, personal and public blogs present a realistic perspective of the threats associated with AI usage. In truth, the information available to the public through blogs offers safeguards to AI users/consumers and adds up to dollars and cents for AI-sponsored companies. Ultimately, blogs are open forums of useful and pertinent information available to any person or business open-minded enough to seek the sincere opinions of others.
